Calculations, conversions, and translation from a clip

Copy "12 * 8" and Clipboard AI shows you 96. Copy "20% of 150", or "5 km to miles", and the answer is on the clip before you open it. Copy a message in another language and a Translate button appears. Two small tools that save a trip to another app.

Solve: arithmetic, percentages, conversions

When a clip is unmistakably a calculation, the result is worked out the moment it is saved and shown on the clip, with a Result box on its detail screen. It handles:

• Arithmetic, like (45 + 12) * 2 or 12 * 7
• Percentages, like 20% of 150, 30% off 80, or 150 + 10%
• Lengths and weights, like 5 km to miles, 6 ft to cm, or 3 kg to lbs
• Temperatures, like 72 f to c or 100 celsius to fahrenheit

Why some clips get a Solve button instead

Written down, 100/4 looks exactly like a date, and 3-1 looks like a score. Rather than guess, Clipboard AI computes nothing for a clip like that and offers a Solve button on its detail screen. Tap it if you wanted 25; ignore it if it was a date. Ordinary text with numbers in it, like an order number or a phone number, gets neither a result nor a button. On Mac, Solve works the same way in All Clips.

Translate

When a text clip is in a language other than English, its detail screen shows a Translate button with the language it detected, like Translate (French). On iPhone and iPad, tapping it copies the clip and opens Apple's Translate app with the text ready to go. On Mac, the Translate button opens the system's translation popover right over the clip, with a Copy Translation button; the first time you translate into a new language, macOS offers to download that language pack.

If you do not see the button

• No result on a calculation. It read as something other than arithmetic. Open the clip; if it is a calculation at all, a Solve button is there.
• No Translate button. It appears only on text clips of more than a few words whose language is detected as something other than English.
